Federal criminal history searches capture federal convictions and pending cases filed within a state's federal district. Because the number of districts within each state varies, Validity conducts its searches at the state level to ensure all districts are included. Federal searches review a minimum of seven years' worth of data. The availability of extended search periods varies by district.
